I’ll bet you have things that scare you.
I know I do.
But you’ll have seen me write about how I get to do scary stuff, despite how fearful I get.
Rock climbing for example, or public speaking.
So what’s my trick?
It’s simple and you can use it too.
First, you need to understand that on a physiological level, fear is almost exactly the same as excitement.
Whether you’re afraid or revved up, your brain centers light up pretty much the same way.
So then why does one person feel scared about something that excites someone else?
Because they choose to change their perception.
When I had to get on that stage a few weeks ago, I was scared. Nervous. Uncomfortable.
But I decided that Man! This is SO exciting!
And boom. Instant enjoyment and looking forward to the moment and the experience.
You get to choose how you interpret the state and the feeling.
So, take control.
And don’t let pre-existing programmes in your mind tell you that the feeling should scare you. Because it doesn’t have to.
