Does My Ego Look Big In This?

Sure do love it when people make progress. Like Jimmy for example, who just finished his first month of membership and sent me this:

“Your reviews were excellent and there’s a gold mine of information in them..so much so that I found, to my chagrin, that I can’t just skim them and apply the findings..they merit careful study and proper application…so you can guess what I’ll be doing during my lunch times for the next few weeks…so long Murakami… ”

Heh.

“Careful study and proper application”… Well yes, of course: those mentorship/writing critiques are not just a quick ‘yeah that’s pretty cool but avoid passive voice’ – it’s much more. It’s dense, hard learning.

Unlike these emails, which are soft teaching: I tell you what you can do to improve business and sales, but not much detail on how to do it – that’s soft teaching for free; hard teaching as a business model.

Which is, btw, the strategy I recommend for most students and readers.

Now, the mentorship program, that’s the hard-teaching part of it – that’s where you learn how your reader’s mind works, and how to use your own style and personality to really connect, on a deep emotional level, with your readers.

There’s a lot in the reports. They merit careful study, several times over.
